Why does my child have a tongue-tie?

The origins of tongue-ties remain largely a mystery, though researchers have identified a genetic component. While typically associated with newborns and toddlers, this condition isn't exclusive to the very young—cases have been documented in adolescents and even mature adults. Interestingly, tongue-ties don't always cause noticeable problems, which means some individuals may be unaware they have this condition for years or even their entire lives.

Will tongue-tie treatment hurt?

No. Because we use a laser to release your child’s tongue-tie, it’s a relatively quick and simple procedure with minimal pain. Your infant will likely have little to no awareness of what is going on.
